The MoonWalk in Manhattan

photoRosemary and I have a long history. We’ve been friends for 35 years, ever since our husbands coached our sons in basketball. And we’ve worked together online – consulting, blogging, publishing a monthly newsletter, writing articles – for the past 12 years.

Ten months ago we embarked on a new adventure with WellPoint. We’ve been tracing our health journey through videos and blogging on the Real Health website. Last fall we each did a video-blog about our health goals for the year, and exercise was a primary one for both of us. Now, nearing the end of our commitment, we’re training in preparation for the culminating event.

On July 20th, we’ll be in New York, participating in the MoonWalk as part of the Empire BlueCross BlueShield Team. The proceeds will go to the Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center’s Breast Examination Center of Harlem. This event begins at midnight and is an overnight marathon through the streets of Manhattan. Rosemary and I are both cancer survivors, and we’re excited to be power walking the half marathon to raise awareness and funds for breast cancer.

If you live in the New York area, we invite you to join us. You can learn more about this event and register at Walk the Walk America. But if you can’t make it to New York, why not sign up for a local charity walk and share your training experiences with us? We would love to hear from you.
